When to play most likely to with a group

Most likely to works best with people who already know each other a little, because every card asks the group what it has noticed. Nobody needs to be good at anything, and the person who gets picked usually has a story ready.

A picnic or an afternoon in the park

Funny and Adventure cards on a blanket with friends, one phone passed around the circle while the snacks go the other way.

Family reunions

Cousins, aunts and grandparents point at each other on Future and Everyday life cards, and the older ones remember who did what thirty years ago.

The end of a trip, a course or a team project

Talents and skills and Kind and helpful turn the round into a string of thank-yous, with everyone hearing what the group noticed about them.

Ways to play most likely to

Names in a bowl

For a shy group or a big team, everyone writes a name on a scrap of paper after the card is read, folds it and drops it in a bowl. The reader unfolds them one by one, and the room finds out the result together without anyone pointing.

Say it in the car

On a drive, nobody points. The passenger reads the card, counts to three, and everyone says a name out loud at the same moment, the driver included. Then the person named most tells the story behind it.

Two players, “me” or “you”

With just two of you, read the card and both answer “me” or “you” on three. When you both say the same person, there is a story to tell, and when you each claim it or each pick the other, there is a story too.

Tips for a good round

  • Pointing at yourself is allowed, and it often gets the biggest laugh of the round.
  • When the vote is a tie, both people get to answer, one after the other.
  • End with a few cards from Kind and helpful, so the last thing everyone hears is something good about someone in the room.

Frequently asked questions

How many most likely to questions are there?

There are 150 questions, 25 in each of six categories: funny, adventure, future, everyday life, talents and skills, and kind and helpful. The cards and the list on this page use the same set.

Is there a most likely to game for couples?

Yes. Most likely to for couples is made for two on one phone: each of you picks “me” or “my partner” in secret, then both picks appear together. Its prompts are different from the ones on this page.

Can we play most likely to with coworkers?

Yes. Every card is about habits, hobbies, daydreams and small kind acts, with nothing about looks, money or getting in trouble, so nobody at work ends up the butt of a joke. In a big team, the names-in-a-bowl version keeps anyone from feeling singled out.

What should we play after most likely to?

Try truth or dare questions. The person who was picked most often in your last round can take the first turn and choose between a truth and a dare.
