How to play two truths and a lie together
- The card shows a topic and whose turn it is to tell. Tap “Another topic” if it does not spark anything.
- Start the 30-second clock and come up with two true things and one made-up thing about the topic.
- Say your three out loud. Your partner guesses which one is the lie.
- Reveal the answer and tell the stories behind the truths, then tap “Next turn” to swap.
When to play two truths and a lie
Two truths and a lie turns the stories you have not told yet into a guessing game. The topic gives you somewhere to start, the clock stops you overthinking, and the lie makes your partner listen to every word.

The passenger reads the topic and runs the clock, the driver tells, and nobody else needs the screen.

One category a round
Pick a category from the menu and stay on it for a few turns each. Growing up and Firsts are the best places to start if you have only just met.
Take your time
The clock is only a nudge. Tap “I’m ready” as soon as you have your three, or let it run out and keep thinking. On a slow evening the thinking is half the fun.
Over a video call
Enter the same sync code on both phones and the same topics come up on both screens, as long as you tap the same buttons. The one telling starts their clock; the other guesses out loud.
Telling a good one
- Make the lie ordinary and one truth surprising. The strangest thing you say should be true.
- Keep all three about the same length and say them in the same voice.
- A wrong guess is a good result: it means there is a story your partner has not heard yet.

Does the game check the answer?
No. Only the teller knows which one was the lie, so the reveal happens out loud. The screen deals the topic, keeps time and hands the turn over.
What if we already know everything about each other?
Choose the specific topics, like a childhood bedroom or a first concert. Small details make good lies, and even long-term couples rarely know them all.
