How to use these date night questions
- Pick a category from the menu under the card, or keep “All categories”.
- Read the question on the top card aloud and both answer it.
- Swipe the card away, or tap “Next question”, for the next one. Questions do not repeat until you have seen the whole category.
- Tap the heart to save a question on this device, or tap “Make a 10-question list” for a list you can copy.

When to bring date night questions
After a while together, dinner talk tends to circle the same few topics: work, chores, the week ahead. A question or two from outside that loop turns a regular meal into an evening that feels like a date.
Dinner at your usual place
Over dinner and Just for fun make a familiar table feel new, without needing a new restaurant.
A night in after a busy week
Right now gives you both room to say how things have really been, while the food is still warm.
Planning the next month together
End the evening with Plans and wishes and leave with one date already on the calendar.
Ways to use date night questions
One per course
Draw a card when the starters arrive, another with the main and a third over dessert. Three good questions are plenty for one dinner, and the phone stays face down in between.
A category for the walk home
Pick Remember when or Plans and wishes before you leave and take turns drawing on the way back. Talking side by side makes the slower answers come easier.
Save one for next time
Before the evening ends, each of you hearts a card you want to ask on the next date night. It gives the next one a place to start.
Keeping the evening easy
- Mix the categories. A Just for fun card after a Right now card keeps the mood light.
- Answer for yourself first, then ask for theirs. It feels more like a chat that way.
- If a card does not fit the moment, swipe it. The evening matters more than the deck.

Frequently asked questions
How many date night questions are there?
There are 100 questions, 20 in each of five categories: over dinner, remember when, right now, just for fun, and plans and wishes. The cards and the list on this page use the same set.
Do these work for a date night at home?
Yes. Over dinner fits a meal you cooked together just as well as a restaurant table, and the other four categories work anywhere. For things to do on a night in, see the at-home date night ideas.
How are these different from first date questions?
These are written for couples who already share a history. Remember when and Plans and wishes only work once there is an “us” to talk about, while the first date questions are for getting to know someone new.
Can we bring the questions without taking a phone to dinner?
Yes. Tap “Make a 10-question list” before you go and copy it into a note, or screenshot it, so the cards come with you even with the phone in a pocket.
